First D-one Fleet Race Schedule For Lake Garda July Demos also in U.K., Czech Republik
The fun of the D-One continues to spread, with a prototype D-One on its way to England's South coast for demo sailing, and two D-Ones are already available for test sails in Czech Republic. The big news, however, is that four new D-Ones will be racing on Lake Garda in Torbole, Italy in cooperation with the Melges 24 Volvo Cup from the 2nd to the 5th of July.
New Rules Format Implemented For D-One Racing
As part of its Class structure, the D-One will race under a revolutionary rules format designed to bring the fun back to one-design racing. The first-ever Class event in Torbole will feature five races with one discard, with the fifth race worth triple points. The racing will also feature a new system designed to encourage fair sailing and discourage protests. “At Devoti Sailing, we prefer relaxing with our friends over a few beers at the end of the day rather than sitting through protest hearings,” Luca Devoti explains. “There will be no on-the-water judging, and protesting sailors have to be damned sure they are right, as they will be disqualified if their protest is found invalid.” Sailors who plan to be in the Lake Garda area can reserve a spot on a D-One by sending an email to info@devotisailing.cz.
