Devoti Sailing Begins Full Production of D-One Dinghy
Devoti Sailing is excited to announce that full production of the new, all-carbon D-One singlehanded dinghy has begun in a new, 3500 square metre, state-of-the-art facility. “Our design and development team spent a great deal of time developing and testing the D-One prototypes to ensure that the production boat was about as perfect as we could make it, and we are convinced the time has come to build this magic new boat,” said Luca Devoti, President of Devoti Sailing. “Using the input of dozens of testers, including many of the world's top Olympic dinghy sailors, we've improved the original concept immeasurably.”
Since April 2009, Devoti Sailing has held numerous development sessions and public demonstrations of prototype versions of the D-One, with nearly unanimous acclaim for even these early boats. “We had three D-Ones sailing in Mallorca, a week in Hyeres, France, then Scarlino, Italy and a full month on Lake Garda in the strong winds there,” explained Devoti. “Our team tested 7 different mainsail designs and 9 assymetric spinnakers (gennakers) before arriving on their final sail plan, which uses a taller and slightly higher-aspect gennaker as well as a greatly improved mainsail design.”
Look for the first production models of the D-One dinghy to begin appearing on the water by the middle of July.
